Congrats to the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

David White

A new year means new opportunities to upgrade your interior design, and beautiful new examples of shutters in homes in Miami and across the country. That also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the winner for January 2017 is Katie S. of Elk Grove, California for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove is located in Northern California and is just one of several towns around the U.S. in which homes can benefit from Polywood shutters no matter the season. Even when somewhat open like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a good amount of outside light from coming into the home. In Elk Grove or in Miami, that’s a boon to any savvy homeowner who wants a lot of customizability in their space.

Plantation shutters also block heat, which means they’re ideal for homeowners who experience sweltering summers or cold winters, or who just want to maximize their home’s energy efficiency. That means a more liveable home and cash back in your pocket every month with lower utility bills.

Katie’s new shutters also take advantage of some newer home design trends. Neutral-hued backgrounds such as her tan wall are becoming extremely stylish, with differing instances of colors–in Katie’s case the white of the Polywood shutters–serving as points of interest throughout the room. Offered in a range of white and off-white colors, plantation shutters can fill a great role in contemporary home design.

As the winner of our Share Your Shutters contest, Katie wins a $100 gift card to a nearby restaurant, as well as getting her wonderful shutters featured with our past winners.
